Yet again, another night of storm level aurora for the upper portion of the contiguous USA and most of Canada. Kp 5. July 13/14, 2015. Wait for dark and be patient.
And another night of auroras are predicted tonight for the most northern portion of the contiguous USA. Kp 4 predicted. Plan on being out when it’s dark, late, and all night long. Don’t quit before midnight if you don’t see anything. Auroras come and go. Hope you see it tonight!
Time of this post: July 11, 2015 245 pm Alaska time
Minor storm levels tonight. Kp 4, 5, 6 possible. The upper portion of the contiguous USA and much of Canada may see auroras if the weather is clear. The time to head out is when it’s dark, and expect auroras all night long. Auroras come and go, so if you don’t see anything, wait. Look north, and look low. Your camera may pick up more than your eye can see.
Most Alaskans have a few more weeks to go for visible auroras.
The Kp level is 7 as of this post at 227pm Alaska time. The northern lights may make an appearance tonight in the upper contiguous USA and also most of Canada, where it gets dark at night. Coronal hole with optimum solar winds may make this a great show! Happy 4th of July!
