Straight from NOAA Space Weather, here is the aurora forecast:
Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected
to be at quiet to unsettled levels on day one (02 Jan), quiet to active
levels on day two (03 Jan) and unsettled to active levels on day three
(04 Jan).

 

Kp 3 is expected tonight, Jan 1/2. Fairbanks area will see the lights most likely,
and the Anchorage are will see the lights looking low to the horizon toward the north. Northern and middle Canada, as well.
