Possible CME arrival today or tonight
We are on aurora watch today/tonight. We are waiting for an incoming CME. This means an excellent show is possible. If the CME arrives, you’ll see posts such as “CME hit!” or “the CME has arrived!” This means you have a short amount of time to get in place to watch the show. If this is only a side swipe or glancing blow, then we should still see some aurora. NOAA Space Weather is predicting a Kp 5, G1 storm. We shall see. Updates will happen when info changes.
This aurora watch is for Alaska, Canada, and the northern contiguous USA.
A CME is a coronal mass ejection. Activity from the sun causes auroras.
Comments and input welcome.
See you soon!
Update at 1145pm Alaska time: Nothing to report.
