Auroras quiet
The last couple of nights, the clouds and fog come and go, and the auroras did come out, small green displays on the horizon, briefly rising higher. The same is forecast for tonight. Kp 1 or 2. Fairbanks and the interior has a good chance at seeing lights tonight, and the lower the latitude, the less chance of seeing lights. Anchorage has a slim chance.
Tomorrow night, Jan 17/18, we expect a little more storming as a glancing blow from a coronal mass ejection may hit earth. In other words, we may see auroras throughout the entire state of Alaska, and most of Canada. Be on the lookout Sunday night/Monday morning in North America.
