No sign of the Kp 6 aurora yet…but great chance of it tonight (Sat night). The forecast from NOAA has been updated for tonight. Last night (Friday night) was a no-show.
What time will it appear? When ever the Interplanetary Magnetic Field is in alignment and when the coronal hole high speed stream indicates data on the satellites. In other words, anytime tonight when it is dark. Usually the times listed on the forecast are best guess, and they are usually wrong, with an estimation + or – 8 hours. So, just check all night long!
Will they be seen in my area? Look at the map below. That is approx locations of Kp 6. If you are around an area where the green burst ends, check the sky anyway! Go to a dark location, facing north. Dark means no light pollution which includes city lights, streetlights, porch lights, and car lights.
