Quiet tonight, with clouds

The aurora forecast is quiet tonight. This means only a small chance of auroras, and low on the horizon from Alaska. Sunday and Monday night have a chance for unsettled or active conditions, but not a grand show. The Fairbanks and Anchorage areas have clouds predicted all this week.

If you are in Alaska on vacation and want to see the aurora, be prepared to drive somewhere to get away from the weather in order to get a clearer view of the night sky. It will be hit or miss. Know which direction is north, and look low on the horizon if you can’t see it overhead.
