CME very late, but signature hit now

The incoming CME disappointed many aurora watchers hoping for a sighting this past night. Finally, in the middle of the night in Alaska, the CME from the X1 flare has hit. We wait for the data to improve as it travels to earth. Then, we may see aurora.

Alaska is mostly cloudy. Depending on the data, will determine where the aurora will dip down into (lower latitudes than Alaska). And depending on the strength will determine how long it will last. With it arriving in the early morning in Alaska, northern Europe may see aurora and North America may or may not see it when it is dark again.

With the current numbers as of this post, it is not strong enough to reach down into the lower 48 states at all. We have to wait to see what transpires.
