early, early this morning, after the clouds blew away, Debra Smallwood took this shot up on Cleary Summit, about 30 minutes away from Fairbanks.
Exciting information for us aurora watchers. In the next few days, expect to see the northern lights, state of Alaska, Canada, and possibly the upper portion of the lower 48. aurora faintly seen in the Fairbanks, North Pole areas at 430 to 5am. A few reports of meteors from all over the state, however, due to the hour, I think most people are asleep! The clouds had finally blown away well after midnight, and the few who remained awake got the show.
It’s been quiet the past few days with only minimum aurora on the horizon in Alaska (along with cloud cover). Tomorrow night (Sat night) there is a chance for aurora, and the forecast shows Sunday night to be even better.
