The CME forecasted never hit. The aurora forecast for tonight is still great. Kp 4. Most of Alaska may see auroras, weather depending.

The aurora was seen in Europe, and as the earth rotated, Canada, and finally Alaska saw it. Some northern areas of MN and WI saw it as well. In Nikiski, the aurora was seen in a pretty display with only a Kp level of 3 at the time this photo was taken, by Jessica Veal….
Last night’s aurora
Last night we did get a show. It started off faint. It just hovered in a big band beginning around 12:15am. I found a parking spot in the Goldstream Valley (Fairbanks) and watched the aurora strengthen. It quietly danced and occasionally burst and showed color. The aurora forecast was just updated at NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, and it remains great for tonight. Although they say “quiet to minor storm levels”, this means a great show for Alaska and Northern Canada tonight.
