The aurora has been quiet lately, and the weather in Fairbanks has been snowy and cloudy. We still look at the data every night in anticipation of the northern lights. NOAA Spaceweather forecast says there is a chance of auroras on Christmas Eve. That would be great!
Last night the Kp hit 4, but the Bz remained north, so we did not get a show. We also had clouds covering the whole sky. Tonight the clouds win again in Alaska. Nothing of note is in the forecast for the next couple days.
Faint aurora over the North Pole area, Fairbanks away from city lights. Fort Yukon, and also up the haul road has quiet auroras. Kp 0. Not much more is expected tonight. Be ready for auroras Thursday night into Friday morning.
