Great auroras last night, possibly more tonight

The aurora lasted all night in much of Alaska, where the weather was clear. Even at a low Kp level the show was awesome.

The current Kp level is 3. Northern areas in Europe have seen and are currently seeing the northern lights: Norway, Finland, Sweden, Scotland, Ireland. Thank you too everyone who wrote in to report the lights.

The forecast tonight for Alaska is continued active, unsettled displays. Let’s hope the forecast is right! If you missed the show last night, here is another chance.

nothing of note yet, maybe tomorrow

Despite all the activity on the sun recently and despite great forecasts with incoming CMEs, we have yet to see the aurora put on display other than a low band on the horizon last night (North Pole, Alaska). The forecast says that tomorrow night (Sunday night/Monday morning), we may see a show.
