1:40am overhead in the Fairbanks areas, we have auroras toward the north. A quiet green display. Kp 1. Temp -27F. The aurora made a brief appearance earlier in the evening as well. In North Pole, it was mixed with clouds and fog.
Last night the Kp hit 4, but the Bz remained north, so we did not get a show. We also had clouds covering the whole sky. Tonight the clouds win again in Alaska. Nothing of note is in the forecast for the next couple days.
The data is looking good for auroras tonight, possibly the entire state, but the more north you are, the better chance. Check your weather. If it is clear, or somewhat clear, you may have a chance to see the lights. I hope we see the lights, so we can call this the “Friday the 13th…
Faint aurora over the North Pole area, Fairbanks away from city lights. Fort Yukon, and also up the haul road has quiet auroras. Kp 0. Not much more is expected tonight. Be ready for auroras Thursday night into Friday morning.
