The aurora is faint tonight, but bright enough to see away from city lights. Kp 0, 1. The stars are simply amazing tonight, and the milky way can be seen.

Fairbanks saw a nice show despite the clouds. North Pole wasn’t so lucky, with rain in the late hours. Anchorage areas reported aurora after 2am. Kp 3 and 4 most the night.
Last night we did get a show. It started off faint. It just hovered in a big band beginning around 12:15am. I found a parking spot in the Goldstream Valley (Fairbanks) and watched the aurora strengthen. It quietly danced and occasionally burst and showed color. Super show tonight, not the biggest, but very pretty. Lights across the sky in every direction. Big bands hanging across the entire sky, completely disappearing, then coming back dancing high. Purple skies and streaks throughout. Kp 2 when the alerts went out. Fluctuating to Kp 3. Active unsettled show. Tomorrow night, expect more. These photos…
The CME which was forecast for YESTERDAY was a no-show. The forecast remains great with a 60% chance of severe storms for tonight in high altitudes. We await the show, and hope the forecasters are right. It is just as well, as the cloudy weather and smoke from the wildfires would’ve blocked our view of…
