Clouds and low horizon aurora

It has been quiet often this week, and tonight is no exception. A low on the horizon aurora can be seen in the Fairbanks area, but there are also a lot of clouds to go along with it. A poor night for viewing. Kp 0.

Did you know the pink fringes in tonight’s #aurora come from nitrogen?

When charged particles hit #nitrogen high in our atmosphere, it glows pink at the edges of the green lights. Beautiful isn’t it? #auroraborealis #northernlights @AuroraNotify @WeatherGamer21 @AuroraNorthWI
